I think former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain is the best of the Republican candidates for President.
Just over 10 years ago, I signed up for Comcast’s “new” to my apartment complex high speed Internet service. Comcast’s partner Excite has long ago bit the dust of the .com bust, but I still have my high speed Internet access. Always on Internet access has become such a way of life for me that I wouldn’t even consider doing without it.
I’m always a bit tickled by Democrats suspicion of a conspiracy of oil companies or speculators to cause higher gasoline prices. There is a very obvious conspiracy causing higher gasoline prices and it is OPEC. Although there is a close second, the underlying economic forces of supply and demand. As long as there is growing demand without growing supply, we will have growing prices. The problem does affect other commodities besides gasoline. The prices for all raw materials is growing because there is more demand than there is supply.
I drive a gasoline powered car, and given the volatility in gasoline prices, I’m intrigued by the idea of a plug in hybrid car. So I’ve been following the Chevy Volt with some interest. I was interested in the idea even when I lived in an apartment and had no place to plug in.
However what I’ve seen and read about the Chevy Volt so far leads me to believe that the plug in hybrid is an idea whose time has not yet come. It seems that given current energy prices, the Volt only makes sense if you drive a lot, and live in that part of the US where electricity comes from coal. A coal powered car doesn’t strike me as a good idea.
I am glad that Osama Bin Laden no longer poses any threat to Western Civilization. I salute the US Intelligence and Special Forces for a job well done. I realize that threat posed by Islamic Terrorists continues in his absence. Furthermore I realize that at least some Muslims hate Western Civilization and would destroy us. My only regret at his death is that we may have missed out on an excellent source of intelligence information.
To all military spouses, but most of all to Mrs. Miller, a military wife I ran into today when I actually left the house today.
Thanks to Instapundit for pointing it out
